With today’s announcement, the program will expand to offer the first year-long NBA Basketball School in the region.

“Following the success of our previous camps, we are thrilled to be announcing the next stage in the program as we launch our first year-round NBA Basketball School in Europe,” said NBA Associate Vice President of Basketball Operations, Europe and Middle East, Neal Meyer. “We look forward to further developing the talented young boys and girls in Turkey as we build a pathway for the next generation of players from the region.”

“Turkey has great potential and is the perfect location for the NBA’s Basketball School program,” said NBA Basketball School’s Turkey Director Phil Galvin. “This country is an ideal base with its young population and general characteristics, so we expect that Turkey will quickly reach to a strong level among all countries with NBA Basketball School programs. After the successful camp programs, a consistent basketball school program will help to create an amazing atmosphere in this beautiful basketball city. We are proud and excited to announce our curriculum and staff team assembled with precision to our participants in Turkey. We believe that this is will be a great opportunity for athletes looking to take their talents to the highest levels of competition.”

‘’We are excited to announce that we have extended our partnership with NBA Basketball School until 2024’’ said Burçin Badem, founder of Beyaz Gölge: ‘’Our co-operation will produce great results for Turkey, and the future of the game in the region.’’

Galvin will be joined by an elite group of coaches from the NBA and Turkey. Following a successful collegiate basketball career at Mount St. Mary’s College in Emmitsburg, Maryland, he began his coaching career at The University of San Francisco where he spent five years as an assistant coach. With a coaching career spanning over two decades, Galvin is widely considered one of America’s top skill development instructors.

The NBA Basketball School curriculum, which is designed to develop players and provide parents, coaches and organizations a better understanding of the process of improvement, has been developed by the NBA’s Elite Basketball Development team in consultation with current and former NBA coaches, NBA players, and player development experts. The initiative adds an additional layer to the NBA’s existing basketball development efforts, including the Jr. NBA, Basketball Without Borders (BWB) and NBA Academies.
